Across Time

Memory is complicated. We think we remember every detail of an event, only to find that someone else remembers it entirely differently. As time passes memory fades—and sometimes changes, revealing what we wish had occurred.

When my mother was diagnosed with dementia,I wondered, “what would happen, who would she be when she could not remember the important events that shaped her. Author Michael Scott said, “we are nothing more than the sum of our memories and experiences.” But is that really true when memories are altered each time we share them
