Catchword
We all use catchwords. They are slang in this modern time to be used on social media—the latest "in words."
But the word originated in the print shop. Initially, the term referred to a word that anticipated the following page and was placed at the bottom of a page as a way of helping a bookbinder make sure that the pages were in the correct order. Catchwords were used in some medieval manuscripts and were used this way until the late 18th century.
Today they are a method for feeling part of group, for branding a person or product correctly or incorrectly. So in history these words acted as guides, but today they have the power to heal or hurt.
